Tyler is getting its first banh mi restaurant. Whatsub Banh Mi, 7924 S. Broadway Ave., Suite 500, will have its soft opening at 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Banh mi sandwiches are traditional Vietnamese fare, with grilled pork, chicken, or even fried marinated tofu, on baguette bread.

According to the most recent issue of Time magazine, “This is America’s hottest sandwich right now,” and “chances are you will encounter one soon,” the magazine predicts.

“Tyler is a growing market,” Trac said. “We see a lot of potential for a restaurant. We have been in the East Texas area for seven to eight years and we are ready to bring an authentic Vietnamese sandwich to the area.”

The full menu is on the restaurant’s Facebook page. Hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
